B.Protec anti-bee coverall: maximum protection against bees, wasps and hornets
Special operations require special protection, and that is precisely where Coval Safety comes in.
Our aim is to make all workers safe from the many risks they face every day by providing them with top-of-the-range safety equipment.
Among the categories at risk, we have dedicated a type of clothing to intervention teams in contact with bees, wasps and hornets, such as the Fire Fighters and Civil Defence.
Indeed, stings from these insects can be very painful and, in the worst cases, even lethal.
Why have a B.Protec suit
B-PROTEC is a one-piece yellow coverall in double-layer puncture-proof fabric, tested for puncture resistance according to ASTM F 1342:2005.
Available in several sizes, from M to XL and designed down to the smallest detail to fully protect the user:
- Designed and created with a front zip, arranged transversally on the chest and around the head for complete coverage and ease of donning.
- Equipped with sleeve and leg bottoms closed with elastic and Velcro, to prevent insects from entering through the slits, but still allowing quick opening.
- Designed with an incorporated hood, consisting of a large steel mesh visor and a helmet conforming to EN 397. This provides all-round shielding against external danger elements.
- In addition, the suit includes PVC gloves, which provide resistance to mechanical, chemical and oil hazards.
In addition, the yellow colour makes it easier to detect the presence of insects, thus reducing the risk of stings.
NB: accessory PPE such as gloves and visor can also be ordered as spare parts.
Therefore, the reasons for choosing this PPE are many, as it fully protects the user, while still being easy to wear, with a large visual area, unobstructed, and very light and flexible.
When to wear the B.PROTEC coverall
This special coverall for protection against bee and wasp stings is the right garment to wear during clean-up operations, removal of insect nests or hazardous pest control.
It is also ideal for Fire Fighters and Intervention Teams trained to work in contact with swarms or hornet nests.
PPE Preservation
As with all PPE, the correct use and conservation of the B.Protec coveralls are indispensable factors for guaranteeing a total level of safety at the time of use.
Here are some points not to be forgotten:
- Store the PPE in a dry place and not exposed to oil and/or grease or heat sources
- Avoid contact with solvents that may alter its characteristics
- Clean the suit with a clothes brush. Do not wash
- Check the expiry date of new, correctly maintained PPE
Remember also the limits of use of the B.Protec coverall, i.e. it is not intended for use in fire-fighting (fire brigade), nor is it suitable for use in operations requiring chemical resistance.
PPE certified according to ISO 13688:2013
PERFORMANCE:
Fabric penetration resistance test: ASTM F 1342:2005
The penetration test was carried out using a needle of a size to simulate the sting of an insect, pushing the needle with twice the force normally produced by a hornet.
